“I was defined by what I did and said, now I help people overcome the fears that limit us” – Emma Wallen
We at BoxHuman take time to celebrate humans who are inspiring, helping, and bringing light to the world. We do this in order to rebalance some of the negative messages we often hear, see, and receive on a daily basis. We met up with one of these amazing individuals…
Hi Emma, we can’t wait to get to know you so let’s start! Can you please tell us a little bit about you and what you do?
Hi, I’m a Psychotherapist both in London and Mallorca Spain, a business owner, and a mum of three! I am the Clinical Director of Sofalive Counselling centre in South West London, providing a confidential modern space for therapists to deliver face-to-face therapy, workshops, seminars, and group therapy.
Within this centre is my own private practice where I see a variety of clients; both individuals and couples. Across the sea in Mallorca, I deliver home visits to high-profile clients and couples.
Thank you, what a great way to start this interview! To find out a bit more about what you do, can you please tell us how and why you become a celebrity psychotherapist – What inspired you to do this and why?
A high-profile client was given my name by a friend, from working with them I was recommended to another and another and before I knew it I had amassed a high-profile client base…
I’m always inspired by those who have a profound impact on others, whether artists, musicians, philanthropists, or business owners.
This kickstarted a route to harness my own skills within psychology and dedicate my services to align with those who are well known and in need of a specific type of therapy.
I think of it a little bit like seeing a ‘broken vase’ and helping to ‘glue the pieces back together so the world can see its beauty once again.
That’s very interesting! As with anything, life can have its positives and negatives. Can you tell us about any hurdles or challenges you have faced and what you’ve learned from them?
I couldn’t call my beautiful children a ‘hurdle’, but I would say there have been realistic challenges that come when you’re a working mum e.g. time management, finances, emotionally investing in your children when your line of work demands that at a similar level, etc. I fell pregnant with my third right at a time when I was in the middle of developing all businesses!
So I’ve learned that being compassionate, forgiving yourself mistakes and errors, and bigger than all of that, always commend yourself for the small wins!
It’s what sets your day ahead of yesterday, but motivates you for the days ahead.
We totally agree! We at BoxHuman believe that sharing inspiring and empowering stories can inspire others. So with that being said, what do you think people should learn or take from your inspiring story?
Never give up, no matter how different you are. Use your differences as motivation rather than a setback, challenges are there to help you grow, utilise them as stepping stones, that’s how I’m here today!
“You were born for a unique purpose, no matter the challenges you’re facing, no matter how long it takes, you can achieve great things just from remembering that.” – Emma Wallen
Very inspiring! If there was one positive thing you would say to someone to inspire and empower them what would it be and why?
You were born for a unique purpose, no matter the challenges you’re facing, no matter how long it takes, you can achieve great things just from remembering that.
Wow, such great advice! Our motto is “Empowered humans, empower others” – Can you share with us in a few words what inspires you on a daily basis, and why?
The world inspires me, my children inspire me, and evolving through learning inspires me.
And last but not least… A BoxHuman is an empowered individual. They will not be defined by society’s labels. They show the better qualities of humankind, such as strength, kindness, and inspiration. Can you please tell us what makes you a BoxHuman?
What makes me a BoxHuman is that I love that I’m authentic and unique. It’s taken a long time to outgrow the constraints of conditioned behaviours and using negative narratives to define what I do and say, but if I can do it, so can anyone reading this.
It’s the main reason I’ve developed Sofalive and why I take pride in my practice fulfilling the role of sharing we all are powerful beyond measure, it’s our fears that limit us.
“Thank you Emma”
